Hi, I’m Miguel
A designer, researcher, lifelong learner, and passionate soccer player.
Here’s how I approach user experience design—and life—through the lens of soccer.
Make the right play
Speed and strength won’t win games—reading the field and making smart moves will. Same with design.
I always start by asking: Who are we helping? Whether it’s a reservation portal for NetJets owners, a volunteer hub for Northwestern Medicine employees, or a safety tool for clinical professionals, user research guides my approach. By understanding people’s needs, I create solutions that are not just functional but truly work for them.
You can’t win alone
Soccer is a team sport—every goal, every defensive stand, every victory is the result of teamwork. Goalkeepers, defenders, and midfielders all contribute to success.
Design is no different. It thrives on collaborating with cross-functional partners—engineers, developers, managers, stakeholders, and more. Whether it’s brainstorming in design workshops, building alignment, or taking critiques, communication is integral to creating great solutions.
Adapt on the field
Soccer is as much about strategy as it is about improvisation. Players might have a game plan, but they must adjust based on their opponents, field conditions, and unexpected challenges.
I bring that adaptability to UX design. Facing an unclear customer issue? Let’s dig into user pain points and define the problem together. Not sure if a layout works? Let’s test it, gather insights, and iterate.
Great design—like great soccer—is about staying agile, making smart plays, and adjusting in real time.
